U of I School of Architecture alum Chris Enck stepped up to save this historic and architecturally important Mansion but ultimately did not succeed. Mr Enck is a preservationist. He saved two houses from demolition including a house from Frank Lloyd Wright's studio and the Royer house at 801 W Oregon in Urbana. Here he is saving a Van Bergen/Frank Lloyd Wright Studio house from demolition http://www.chicagotribune.com/.../ct--house-moving....
This was the moving company Enck is working with http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170828/news/170828984/ If the Burnham House was going to survive into perpetuity, it had to be moved off of the high school development site, a challenging and expensive undertaking. According to the terms, Enck was given less than 8 weeks to find a suitable nearby location and move the huge mansion, an impossible task.
