"As Ms. Reynolds notes, this is a “…multi-block project involving major land assemblage, vacation of a city street, and expansion of an institutional use. Nearly 2000 people will come and go on a daily basis, yet our Planning Department will have no role in the redevelopment process.” It is baffling that City Planners are not involved. Additionally, she brings up the issue of city zoning code, redevelopment regulations, and participatory procedures - is Unit 4 really immune to these city procedures, codes, and regulations that apply to other developments?" WE NEED URBAN PLANNING, NOT URBAN PAVEMENT!

"When I was a student in the 70's I loved seeing all those beautiful homes. It made me appreciate architecture. We can't build anything like these houses today. There are few craftsmen who could do the beautiful work."
"Once it's gone, it's gone. Decades of history, of families' lives, are in that mansion. In such a short time it would be gone forever. Just like when a giant tree is cut down. Hundreds of years to grow and then it's replaced by a twig of a tree. To me it's worth revisiting the school issue again, as long as it takes, to figure out a better solution." L.B.
"A public entity does not have special property rights to disregard the public's history. They actually have even more of a duty to take the public's history into account since it's the public funds that they are using to demolish the public's history. "
"The adaptive reuse of Burnham would give Unit 4 and the city of Champaign plenty of good publicity and press. Please explain how a parking lot is going to help educate the children of Champaign? Unit 4 spent $1.7 million of our money to purchase Burnham for a parking lot. $1.7 million could have been used in a better way?"
"You can put a parking lot anywhere. You cannot bring back an 1884 house."
